As Jean-Pierre was nearing the end of his 8th year of life, he did not become a 9 year old, he skipped right ahead to the 30 year old man he is today.
This in many ways explains his sense of humor and his questionable hygiene, but it also explains why a sweet 16 birthday party is such a foreign affair to him. Photographing these guests with their tiaras, and dance moves, and Cinderella-esque shoes, was like being on some kind of safari – documenting the rituals and habits of some rarely seen creatures of majestic beauty. The prize of course was to see the queen of this glamour jungle herself, Haley Armbruster.
